On 31 October 2026, Burghotel Trendelburg in Germany will host its Hangman’s Banquet, an unusual Halloween dining experience combining medieval history, eerie storytelling and a themed dinner.
The evening begins at the castle's keep, where the executioner introduces guests to the torture chamber and explains the methods of punishment used in medieval times.
After a serving of witch's herbal brew, guests are led to the vaulted cellar for the banquet. The tables are decorated with pumpkins and blood-stained tablecloths, creating a suitably macabre setting.
The three-course menu follows the theme, beginning with pumpkin soup, followed by a flambéed skewer as the main course and green mousse for dessert.
