Editorial & Submission Guidelines

Dineest welcomes news, ideas and original stories from restaurants, hospitality businesses, chefs, producers, industry professionals and members of the public.

These guidelines explain what you can submit, what information we need and how the Dineest editorial team may use submitted material.

What you can submit

  • New restaurant, cafe, bar and hospitality openings
  • Business launches, significant updates and collaborations
  • Food and hospitality events
  • Chefs, producers, makers and remarkable people
  • Industry news, ideas and emerging trends
  • Recipes and stories from professional kitchens
  • Local discoveries and places worth knowing about
  • Food traditions, personal experiences and community stories

We are looking for more than an announcement or a food photograph. Please tell us what makes the story interesting, useful or relevant to our readers.

Who can submit

You do not need to represent a hospitality business to contact Dineest.

  • Restaurants and hospitality businesses
  • Public relations and communications professionals
  • Chefs, producers and other industry professionals
  • Event organisers and community groups
  • Writers, photographers and independent contributors
  • Readers and local food lovers

If you are submitting information on behalf of a business, organisation or another person, you must be authorised to do so.

What to include

  • A clear summary of the story and why it matters
  • The name of the relevant person, place, business or organisation
  • Location and any relevant dates or times
  • Your name, role and connection to the story
  • Contact details for editorial follow-up

Accuracy and verification

Please make reasonable efforts to ensure that the information you submit is accurate, current and not misleading.

Dineest may contact you or other relevant parties to verify names, dates, locations, claims and other details before publication. We may request additional information or supporting evidence.

Submitting material does not guarantee that it will be published.

Rights and permissions

By submitting text, photographs, video or other material, you confirm that:

  • You created the material or have permission from the relevant rights holder to share it with Dineest
  • You are authorised to submit information on behalf of any business, organisation or person you claim to represent
  • The material does not knowingly infringe copyright, privacy or other third-party rights
  • You have provided accurate credits and attribution where required
  • You have obtained any permissions reasonably required for identifiable people appearing in submitted material

A photograph credit does not by itself constitute permission to publish the photograph. Please do not submit images copied from websites, social media accounts, image searches or other publications unless you have permission to provide them.

How Dineest may use submitted material

You retain ownership of the original material you submit.

By submitting material for editorial consideration, you give Dineest permission to review it and, if selected, to edit, publish, reproduce and promote it in connection with Dineest, including on the Dineest website and associated social media channels.

This permission is non-exclusive, which means you may continue to use your material elsewhere.

Editing may include changes to length, structure, spelling, grammar, headlines, captions and formatting. We will not intentionally change the material in a way that misrepresents its essential meaning.

If a submission requires materially different usage or separate commercial licensing, we will discuss this with you before proceeding.

Editorial decisions

All submissions are reviewed by the Dineest editorial team.

  • Accept or decline a submission
  • Select only part of the submitted material
  • Rewrite an announcement as an editorial news story
  • Edit material for clarity, accuracy, length and style
  • Contact additional sources or include relevant context
  • Choose the headline, category, images and publication date
  • Update, correct or remove published material where appropriate

We are not required to publish every submission or provide individual feedback about declined material.

Editorial coverage cannot be guaranteed in exchange for purchases, partnerships, advertising or other commercial relationships. Sponsored or paid content will be clearly identified where applicable.

Payment and publication

Submitting news, photographs or story ideas does not create an employment, freelance, confidential or financial relationship with Dineest.

Unless separately agreed in writing, Dineest does not pay for unsolicited submissions, press releases, reader recommendations or promotional material.

If we wish to commission original paid work from a writer, photographer or other contributor, the scope, fee and usage terms will be agreed separately before the work begins.

Confidential and sensitive information

Standard email is not a secure or anonymous submission channel.

Please do not send passwords, payment information, identification documents, private medical information or other unnecessary sensitive personal data.

If a story involves confidential allegations, legal proceedings, personal safety or other sensitive circumstances, contact us first with a brief description and do not attach confidential documents until an appropriate method of communication has been agreed.

We cannot guarantee confidentiality unless this has been expressly agreed in advance.

Personal information

We use the contact information included in a submission to review the material, verify information, respond to the sender and manage any resulting editorial work.

More information about how Dineest processes personal data is available in our Privacy Policy.

Corrections and removal requests

If you believe that published Dineest content contains a factual error, improperly uses your material or should be reviewed for another reason, please follow our Corrections & Removal process.

A request does not automatically guarantee that content will be changed or removed. We will assess requests according to the circumstances, our editorial standards and applicable legal obligations.
