There are few places where Halloween feels quite as naturally at home as Bran Castle.
Perched above the village of Bran in Transylvania, the medieval fortress has become known around the world as “Dracula’s Castle” — a connection shaped more by literature and legend than by the actual history of the building. Bram Stoker never visited Romania, and the castle’s links with Vlad the Impaler are limited. Yet Bran’s position high above the surrounding landscape and its maze of rooms, stairways and passages have helped make the association remarkably persistent.
At the end of October, the castle embraces that reputation.
From 24 October to 1 November 2026, Bran Castle will hold its annual Halloween event, this year presented under the theme The Legend of Dracul. The programme builds towards Halloween night on 31 October, when the schedule expands beyond daytime castle tours to include dinner, an all-night party in the Royal Park and, for a limited number of guests, a private party inside the castle.

The Legend of Dracul
This year's programme takes its names from the phases of the moon:
New Moon
24–30 October · 09:00–19:00
26 October: 12:00–19:00
The New Moon experience transforms the regular castle visit with low lighting, special effects and themed performers interacting with visitors as they move through the rooms and corridors. Admission also includes the Torture Exhibition.
Tickets start from 100 RON (approx. €19).
31 October · daytime
On Halloween itself, New Moon continues as the daytime option, offering the themed castle tour before the night-time programme begins.
Tickets start from 300 RON (approx. €57).

Blood Moon
31 October · 18:00–04:00
Blood Moon combines a night-time Halloween tour of Bran Castle with the Torture Exhibition and admission to the Halloween Party in the Royal Park.
The party takes place from 21:00 until 04:00 in a 600-square-metre gala tent, with DJs, interactive characters, horror screenings and dedicated photo areas.
Tickets start from 800 RON (approx. €152).

Full Moon
31 October · from 18:00
Full Moon adds a Halloween dinner at Queen Marie’s Tea House, the restaurant in the Royal Garden at the foot of the castle, to the night-time castle experience and Halloween Party.
There are two schedules. Guests can dine at 18:00, followed by the Halloween tour at 21:00, or take the tour at 20:00, followed by dinner at 21:30. Each dinner seating is limited to 80 guests. Access to the Halloween Party in the Royal Park is also included.
Tickets start from 1,500 RON (approx. €284).
Eclipse
31 October · 21:00–04:00
Limited to 100 guests, Eclipse begins with a night-time Halloween tour at 21:00, followed by a private party inside Bran Castle from 23:00 until 04:00.
The evening includes a buffet, open bar and DJ entertainment. Guests also have access to the larger Halloween Party in the Royal Garden, which accommodates up to 1,500 people and includes a midnight costume contest.
Tickets start from 3,000 RON (approx. €568).
Blue Moon
1 November · 09:00–18:00
Blue Moon is the family-oriented version of the Halloween experience, with decorations and effects adapted for younger visitors.
Tickets start from 100 RON (approx. €19).

Planning a Visit
Bran Castle is around 30 kilometres from Brașov, with the journey taking approximately 35 minutes by car or around 50 minutes by bus from Brașov.
Visitors should also be prepared for the practical realities of Halloween inside a medieval castle. Bran Castle warns of low temperatures and potentially slippery stairs and walkways, as well as flashing lights, loud noises and confined spaces during the event. Regular guided tours will not operate during the Halloween programme.
Tickets for all Halloween experiences are limited and are available through the official Bran Castle website.
