Every third Thursday in November, wine lovers around the world welcome the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau, the first wine released from the year's harvest in the Beaujolais region of France.

On 19 November 2026, Lympstone Manor will join the celebration with a special wine dinner at its Pool House Restaurant & Bar, overlooking the Devon countryside.

Hosted by Chris Piper of Christopher Piper Wines, the evening will explore several expressions of Beaujolais, from the newly released 2026 vintage to established regional appellations, accompanied by a seasonal menu created by chef Michael Caines.

An Evening of Beaujolais and Seasonal Cooking

The evening begins at 7:00 pm with canapés and a glass of sparkling wine, followed by dinner at 7:30 pm.

Rather than focusing exclusively on Beaujolais Nouveau, the wine selection introduces guests to different styles and vintages from the region, with each wine chosen to complement a particular course.

The opening canapés include a Comté cheese gougère and chicken liver parfait with apple and cinnamon, served alongside a 2023 Bourgogne Blanc from Château de Vaux.

The dinner then moves through a series of seasonal dishes and wine pairings.

The Dinner Menu and Wine Pairings

The dinner moves through a series of seasonal dishes, each accompanied by a carefully selected wine.

Autumn Farmhouse Terrine

Served with pickled mushrooms, wholegrain mustard vinaigrette and candied hazelnuts.

Wine pairing: 2024 Chénas “Mosaïque”, Domaine Perrachon.

Chargrilled Cornish Hake

Accompanied by shallot purée, leek fondue and a shallot and smoked bacon velouté.

Wine pairing: 2024 Beaujolais-Villages Blanc, Château de Vaux.

Chicken Coq au Vin

Served with potato purée, buttered green beans and carrots.

Wine pairing: 2026 Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau, Château de Vaux.

A Selection of French Regional Cheeses

Wine pairing: 2025 Fleurie, Château de la Chaize.

The evening concludes with coffee and petits fours.

The central pairing brings together chicken coq au vin, a classic French dish traditionally prepared with red wine, and the newly released 2026 Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau. Meanwhile, the inclusion of Chénas and Fleurie offers a broader introduction to the region's wines beyond its annual November release.
